Nancy Kirkwood, R.N., BSN is our Volunteer Nurse
Coordinator for Edwards County LPNs and RNs, she will be organizing us for
training and volunteer nursing in the Edwards County Public Health Disaster
Response Plan.
In planning for a Public health Response in Edwards
County, the Edwards County Health Department is developing and training a
registry of volunteer Nurses that maybe called upon to aid in the event of a
Public Health Disaster within our county or surrounding counties. We also would
be coordinating with the Red Cross Disaster Health Services to have have
licensed health personnel trained in the event of natural disaster in our county
and surrounding counties.
Counties we may aid would most likely be those of the
Cannonball Trail Chapter of the Red Cross:
- Barber
- Edwards
- Kiowa
- Pratt
- Stafford
- also to include: additional counties of the South
Central Coalition of Public Health - Comanche and Kingman
You are not obligated to volunteer service. But please
take this opportunity for local training, to find out more about volunteering in
your nursing profession field, and to have the chance to make a difference in
your community by being adequately trained and prepared to use your nursing
expertise in a disaster.
For more information contact the
ECHD or your local health department.
